Professional Development

The Mansfield Public Schools believes that staff members should be provided with instructional development opportunities, which are consistent with our mission statement, our system wide goals, The Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks, and The Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment (MCAS) Tests. Fostering the professional growth of school personnel and expanding their repertoire of instructional strategies will promote a more effective learning environment to enable all students to reach their full potential.

Our professional development program contains a variety of opportunities for our educators to acquire content knowledge and understanding, to develop skills for the classroom and beyond, and to improve pedagogy.  Through the in-service courses, on-line courses, after school, conferences and workshops, grade level sessions, and departmental meetings, we are implementing the goals set by our long range learning plan.

Educational Conference/Workshop Approval Instructions

  • Please do not register or pay for any conference/workshop until you have been approved by Mr. Connolly.
  • Attach all information regarding the conference/workshop to the form (link below) and submit to your building principal for initial approval.
  • Once approved by your principal, send it to Central office (attn: Dyana Bogdan).  All requests must be approved by Central Office regardless of whether there is a cost.
  • Allow at least 1 week before the deadline to register for paperwork to be approved. Once approved, you will be notified of next steps. 


Educational Conference/Workshop  Reimbursement Instructions:

  • Submit proof that you attended the conference and/or workshop so the invoice can be paid as soon as it is completed. Send ONE of the following to Central Office, Attn: Dyana Bogdan (scan/email or interoffice):
  1. Certificate of Attendance (preferred)  OR

  2. A copy of your Badge    OR

  3. A Printed Agenda given to you at the conference (a downloaded agenda is not accepted)

District In-house Professional Development

  • All requests for adding to SMART PD should be send PRIOR to PD offering
  • Send completed form (link below) to Central Office (via email or interoffice) Attn: Dyana Bogdan for approval by Assistant Superintendent of Teaching & Learning.
  • Please give Central Office 1 week to add to SMARTPD once approved.
  • Staff/attendees MUST register themselves prior to closing date so they can receive their PDP’s.
  • Facilitators are asked to print the Attendance Sheet linked to the offering on SMART PD. Once the PD is completed, submit the signed Attendance Sheet with the PD agenda or slide presentation to Central Office (attn: Dyana Bogdan) for certification of PDP's.
