ALL IN THE TIMING

Cast & crew

On Friday, December 4th and Saturday, December 5th at 7:30pm the Mansfield High School Performing Arts Department will present a collection of six comedic one-act plays called ALL IN THE TIMING by David Ives.  Tickets for the show will be available at the door, $8 students/senior citizens/ $4 for children under 10 and $10 adults. Tickets will be available at the door. The production staff includes direction by Sheila Newton, costume design by Margarita Prestwich, set design by Kristi Johnston, and lighting design by Ryan Goodwin.  The basic plot of each play is as follows:

Sure Thing - Two strangers meet in a café and try to hold conversation, but are interrupted by an off-stage bell every time they say the “wrong” thing. With each bell, the two are able to resume their conversation in a different style in hopes of furthering their relationship. Features Sarah Shear and Matt Lovely.

Words, Words, Words - In a wacky experiment, three monkeys in captivity are given typewriters in hopes that sooner or later they will produce Hamlet. The hysterical experiment doesn’t go without its troubles as the monkeys start to question the ethical treatment they receive.  Features Zain Hasan, Olivia Titus, and Stephen Williamson.

The Universal Language - An advertisement for a new universal language “Unamunda” interests Dawn, a young woman with a speaking disorder. She visits the language school and is greeted by the creator and teacher of the wacky new language named Don. The lesson spirals into eccentricity as Don teaches Dawn the fundamentals of the language and they find themselves having the time of their lives.  Features Ellie Farrell and Johnny Fullerton, Lloyd Hewitt.

Philip Glass Buys a Loaf of Bread - Philip Glass walks into a bakery to buy bread, but unfortunately encounters the woman he used to love. This triggers a musical crisis performed in trademark Glassian style, where purchasing bread and dealing with the woman become deliberately difficult.  Features Duncan Fuller, Emily Ruddy, Nicole Lynch, and Bill Newton.

The Philadelphia - A young man has fallen into a “Twilight Zone” state - dubbed a “Philadelphia”, where he cannot get anything he asks for. His friend recommends that the only way he can get what he wants, is to order the opposite.  Features Napoleon Soares, Ashley Goverman, and Parker Ackerman.

Variations On the Death of Trotsky - This play presents the audience with some amusing possibilities on what may have happened to Trotsky, the Russian revolutionary, during the final hours of his life in which he had a mountain-climber’s axe smashed into his head.  Features Andy Romanul, Brittany Phillips, and Colin Rumbel.
